Best Coffeeshops and Grab-and-Go Breakfasts in Truckee

Fueling for a day full of fun outside requires some caffeine and a grab-and-go breakfast. Below are my favorite spots in Truckee - I've tried them all - and these are the ones I go back to again and again.

A local standby. They are kind and efficient, which isn't an easy thing to do. Their baked goods are great, and many folks adore their bagel sandwiches to go. The coffee is good too. This spot is great, and everyone knows it, so the line can be quite long, especially if school is in session. They also always have copies of the local papers, Sierra Sun and Moonshine Ink, and the bulletin board out front is filled with all kinds of fun and interesting local happenings.
Newer on the scene, this coffee shop brings a European flair. The lemon ricotta cake is one of my personal favorites. They have great handpies and breakfast burritos as well. In the summer, the patio is wonderful. It's a great spot to grab something and head out, but it's also a nice place to meet up with friends and pass a leisurely morning. The design and location are also fitting for a business meeting over coffee.
Like Cafe Lupine, Mountain Brew is newer on the scene and channels the newer 'cafe all day' business plan. This means they start with coffee and burritos but also do beer and wine and sandwiches later in the day. They have a drive-thru option. The coffee is piping hot. And the breakfast burritos are the size of your head. Particularly for big powder days, this spot ticks all the boxes as you head up to Sugar Bowl or down to Palisades, Northstar etc.
I do believe this is the best actual coffee in town. They have great baked goods as well. On Fridays, Sierra Bakehouse is open next door, offering some of the best baked goods in town, which rotate based on what is seasonally available. If you are staying with a friend, grabbing some goodies from Sierra Bakehouse and then enjoying some delicious coffee at Pacific Crest is a great way to kick off a long weekend.
Ok, truth be told, I haven't had their coffee. But I don't need to, to put them on this list. They are here because their Gnar Burrito is the best thing in town and 'well-priced' for our area! They put green chile and hash browns inside their burritos. I don't think I need to write more here; do yourself a favor and go. You will not be disappointed.
